The Thrift Store
In January of 2020, we opened a small store front. However, we had dreams of growing bigger, and we did. In July 2020 we opened a temporary store on West College St. to see how well a thrift store could do. Thanks to the community who shopped and donated, we were able to move into a more permanent location at 845 Middle Tennessee a few months later.
We kept growing…
In March of 2022, we opened a 2nd location at 1007 Dr MLK Jr. Blvd so we could sell furniture, less than 3 minutes from MTSU. In May of 2023, we decided to combine both stores and get everyone under one roof. Our MLK location has become home to all of us. Thank you to our LOYAL constant customers we are thriving. We are so GRATEFUL for all the new faces that come into our store and support our mission. We HOPE for many more years to come!

A family-owned business that has a PURPOSE. This Thrift store is a non-for-profit, and we LOVE helping our committee. We hire people with all different walks of life. Some have been personally touched with addiction or have had a friend or family member that has struggled or is still fighting.

Michael DeLeon
Michael R. DeLeon, a successfully acclimated ex-offender who after nearly 8 years of drug addiction and gang involvement, spent 12 years in state prison and half-way houses for a gang-related homicide. Michael pled guilty in a very emotional and complicated case involving the murder of his own mother by people tasked to kill him.
Since Michael’s release from prison, he has earned 3 Associates Degrees, a Baccalaureate Degree in Business Management, with a minor in Criminal Justice and a CADC Educational Certificate.
Our Purpose
Steered Straight (the Mission) is a 18+ year program that does not explain drug prevention at school assemblies but TEACHES the reality of drugs and devises a prevention message the students can implement themselves within their lives.
To reach youth and young adults through motivational speaking, life-sharing seminars and interactive curriculum in order to:
- Provide youth with real-life examples of negative consequences that resulted from making poor decisions.
- Impact the minds of youth to steer their lives in positive ways and encourage them to make positive life-choices.
- Give kids the ability to develop a sense of understanding about the positive and negative choices in their lives.
- Reduce the number of youth who end up in the criminal justice system due to making poor decisions
Outcomes:
- Reduced rates of first-time drug use among adolescents.
- Improved academic performance and school attendance.
- Increased awareness and early identification of at-risk youth.
Michael DeLeon goes to over 700 schools in a years to educate our youth to fight against: Addiction, Suicide, Bullying, and Vaping.
